Aurora Sullivan, 2017
Every moment, we triumph over
The inevitability of decay, feeling life as circular,
Frenetic chromatin winding and unwinding
Generating the pieces of what we think of as ourselves
We are clumps of atoms colliding,
Tottering through improbable into factual
Carefully, according to genetic blueprint
Assembled by glorious profusion of cellular apparatus
We announce ourselves eukaryotic with novel
Temerity and confounding complexities,
Capable of building skyscrapers but never
Given to stop wondering why
